PURE MAPLE Wood Shells

The most popular wood for drum making, maple is a hardwood that produces maximum resonance, projection, and attack. Combined with reinforcement hoops, it can produce a more focused sound and is well-suited for live and studio applications.

Specialized Shell Configuration (SSC)

DW layers plies cut to different grain orientations—horizontal, vertical, and diagonal (X-shell)—to lower the fundamental pitch of shells, maximize resonance, and produce a complete instrument.

A 7-ply shell with or without reinforcement hoops incorporates 1/36" veneers for a resonant, yet focused sound.
